Jana Dörfelt's new book is dedicated to the phenomenon of polynarration – a narrative form characterized by the dissolution, fragmentation, and simultaneous interweaving of overlapping stories. At its core lies the artistic exploration of everyday narrative structures, which do not follow a linear path but unfold across fragmentary, contradictory, visual, and textual layers that influence one another.
Using an ostensibly banal newspaper article as a starting point, the book explores, unfolds, and renders comprehensible the microcosm of modern everyday storytelling. The work combines theoretical and textual input from Cultural Studies with an experimental, illustrative layer that breaks narrative boundaries and opens up new approaches to contemporary storytelling.
By merging theory and artistic practice, the book makes a unique contribution to the artistic investigation of modern narration as a cultural and aesthetic phenomenon.
It is aimed at scholars, artists, and students interested in narrative forms, visual culture, and interdisciplinary research approaches.
